Academic Papers

Listed below are academic papers I wrote in graduate school at the University of Nebraska at Omaha while obtaining my Master of Arts degree in English and my Graduate Certificate in Technical Communication.

In my Digital Literacies class, part of the requirement in obtaining my Technical Communication Graduate Certificate, I researched and wrote on the topic of telecommuting, arguing the need for Face-to-Face Interaction in an ever-increasing technological world.

*I also created a journal design layout for the same article in my Developing Digital Publications class.

In my Literary Research class, a requirement for all English Masters students, I wrote a critical paper on the film Pleasantville, which discusses how it attempts to expose the repressed desires of humans using the 1950s sitcom to represent an idealized reality. I analyze the use of femininity and masculinity in the film and how it fails to show any real change throughout. I also discuss how change is only shown in Hollywood through a heteronormative lens.

In my Information Design class, a requirement for my Graduate Certificate in Technical Communication, I wrote a synthesis paper on the importance of studying Information Design in academia and creating programs of relevancy within that field of study.
